Experience History Firsthand through Tsuyama Castle Digital Signage
The castle town of Tsuyama was once the center of Mimasaka Province.
Vestiges of Tsuyama Castle’s past inform the townscape of today.
Digital signage found in three locations around Tsuyama offers a closer look at this history
and a chance to explore the city’s past, visually overlaid upon the present.
First, let’s start with Tsuyama Castle Mode, and set that to “on.”
This shows a 3D reconstruction of Tsuyama Castle, overlaid on the Tsuyama of today.
The model was recently enhanced with the addition of the castle moat.
Based on the location of the moat,
we can see the full extent of how far out Tsuyama Castle was intended to be defended.
The way that the river and the man-made moat connect
makes it clear that the entire castle town was considered part of the castle itself.
Use the touchscreen to move the view forward, backward, left, and right. Explore from any position or angle, to get a three-dimensional sense of the relationship between the castle and the town.
The highlight of this experience is the newly added Castle Keep Mode.
First, a 3D reconstruction of the entire keep is displayed.
From there, zooming in switches to an internal view,
giving a three-dimensional look at the pillars, floors, and the layering of stories within the castle keep.
By moving the viewpoint,
you can explore the spaces and structure of each floor, as though walking through the keep itself,
giving you an immersive, intuitive sense of how it was built and what roles it was designed to serve.
Finally, let’s switch to Tsuyama Castle Mode to “off.”
This hides the 3D model of Tsuyama Castle, leaving only the actual historic site and the present-day townscape of Tsuyama visible.
This interactive digital signage is not meant to simply look at, but as an exhibit to touch, move, and explore.
Step back and forth between past and present, as you walk through Tsuyama.
Experience a historical journey that can only be found here.
