Autumn in Shurakuen Garden

The north-south elongated pond garden is divided by four floating islands and incorporates the surrounding mountains as borrowed scenery. Here, you can spend a relaxed time away from the hustle and bustle while admiring the beautiful landscape that changes with the four seasons.

Shurakuen Garden was originally built in the 17th century. This Japanese garden has walking paths around a large central pond, and it is designated a Place of Scenic Beauty.
The garden was built about 500 m north of Tsuyama Castle, and is about 130 m wide from east to west, and 300 m long from north to south. It uses the mountains in the distance as “borrowed scenery.” The pond covering the majority of the garden’s grounds is divided into four sections, each of which has bridges and paths for walking around them.
Each season brings its own beautiful scenery, with cherry blossoms in spring, water lilies in summer, colorful leaves in autumn, and snow in winter.
